Who is Marcos Witt
Marcos Witt is a Latin Christian singer, songwriter, pastor, and author who was born in 1962 in San Antonio, Texas. His father, Jerry Witt, was a Protestant missionary in Mexico who died when Marcos was two months old. His mother, Nola Holder, remarried Francisco Warren, who adopted Marcos as his son. Marcos grew up in Mexico and studied classical music at the Universidad de Juarez in Durango. He also continued his musical and ministerial education at the University of Nebraska and a private conservatory.
His first album, Canción a Dios (1986), marked the beginning of his formal musical career. However, it was his album Proyecto AA (1991) that made him internationally known, especially for the song Renuévame (Renew Me), which is still sung in many churches today. Since then, he has released more than 30 albums and won several awards, including five Latin Grammys and four Billboard Latin Music Awards. He has also performed in numerous concerts around the world, such as the Homenaje a Jesus (Tribute to Jesus) at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
In 1986, he married Miriam Lee, with whom he has four children: Elena Jannette, Jonathan David, Kristofer Marcos, and Carlos Franklin. He also founded CanZion Producciones, a record label that manages his career and other Latin Christian artists. He also founded the Instituto CanZion, a school that trains musicians and ministers. In 2002, he became the pastor of the Hispanic congregation of the Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, one of the largest evangelical churches in the world.
Marcos Witt is considered one of the most influential and respected Latin Christian artists of all time. His music has touched millions of lives and inspired many people to follow Jesus Christ.
