If possible, please download the driver listed to a USB flash drive and install on your PC. Save the driver to your desktop. Use the driver files and not the Sony Web site to download the drivers.
I removed the VAIO from the PC to avoid the heat issue/battery drain. The Vaio never had any heat issues under Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. It's rather new and is at one point 5% used. I only had it for a few days.
I have run Windows 7 and 8.1 on this same laptop for years without any issue. You may want to contact the Sony support team for any installation issues you may have. They can try to help you get this fixed. I do not work for Sony. Please keep me updated if you find out anything about this issue.
I have a Sony with the same exact model number as yours. I get some heat from the CPU as well but it is under 1% all the time. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on it. It has 2 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTS 450. It is also older than yours. I can run it with high CPU and GPU stress tests and it goes from 0 to 100% CPU and 0 to 100% GPU without any issues. I am not sure what you mean by 'no thermal paste was applied'. If you are referring to heat paste that needs to be applied to the CPU, it is unnecessary. If you are talking about the GPU, the heat paste is needed only to help with heat transfer to the CPU.
